The Presbytery of Geneva Seeks a Web Intern!

The position is open for the Spring Semester of 2012! It is a great opportunity for somebody who is just starting out in the field. Our office is located in Penn Yan, but is flexible to have someone work remotely.

This is an unpaid internship, but we are willing to work with you and your school to allow you to get credit hours for the work that you do for us!

Overview of Responsibilities includes online work on two websites and support in developing potential new sites. Our web intern would work on dozens of different projects! We’re looking for somebody who’s quick on his/her feet, adaptable, learns fast and has good attention to detail. Specific skills that are good to have are html, design, WordPress, etc. What’s more important is a positive attitude, strong initiative, and a good sense of teamwork.

Specific Duties:

• Following the direction of our Director, maintains the organization’s website and ensures that it is easy to access and is visually effective.

  • Translates the informational or marketing content into a functional website.

• Determines all necessary coding requirements for the site creation, including forms, e-commerce capability, and specialized scripts.

• Writes web pages using a combination of codes such as JavaScript, HTML, and Flash.

• Researches WordPress plug-ins for a variety of organizational uses, and integrates them with our websites.

• Develops templates of approved website layout.

• Integrates verbal and graphical content with site design, and posts completed site to Internet server and search engines.

• Tests website for functionality.

• Adjusts designs to fit the need.

• Prepares weekly reports and gives the latest status of the work.

There may be other specific duties as the work continues or projects come up!

Web Interns are people who have in depth knowledge of up to date web-design trends and techniques. Web Interns have great attention to detail and a versatile attitude.  With an open mind and artistic creativity, the Web Intern has the ability to work in a small team as well as be independent enough to work on projects individually.  Web Interns maintain the high level of integrity necessary to fulfill our mission and vision.
