“The Session and all members of The United Presbyterian Church, Hornell, NY, thank you for your recent $200 gift. This was unexpected, of course, and it provided an opportunity for the Session to have a lively discussion of how best to use these funds. I’m happy to report that one of our members matched this gift, and a little more, with a donation of $201. Therefore, we had $401 at our disposal.

Our church’s financial situation is stable during this unusual time, so we considered various ways to use these funds in the service of Christ in our community. As I wrote above, it was a lively discussion, but we decided unanimously to give the $401 to the Turning Point food pantry in Hornell. UPC has provided assistance to Turning Point in several ways over the years, but we all recognized the extra need for helping food pantries at this time. In ordinary times, UPC works with several other local churches to provide a free meal Sunday afternoons. With our church buildings being closed, the Sunday Meals program has been on hold. This donation to Turning Point will not make up for the missing Sunday Meals, but it was done in the same spirit of providing food to local people who need it. Thank you for making this extra donation possible.”
The session of the First Presbyterian Church of Ulysses in Trumansburg wanted to thank your committee and the Presbytery for the $200 donation due to Covid-19. We are holding the dollars to use for equipment for the taping and broadcasting of our worship services. We are in the process of finding a camera type piece of equipment to use for that purpose. Thank you so much. Please stay safe and healthy.

First we want to thank you for your kindness and consideration in giving to all churches within the Presbytery during this most troubling time. When our session met and discussed what we should do with this money, it was decided that we should pay it forward to someone who was in more need than us. Our financial obligations have been met without hardship. Our members have been most generous in giving…some above and beyond their pledges…during our closing. However, we know a young woman who owns a business here in Cohocton that had to close, thus leaving her without an income, but still the responsibility of supporting a family. So we paid it forward !

I am most proud of our church in that we gave to this woman, waived a months rent for our tenant in the manse and gave to a man who has been a blessing to us as pulpit supply. Not only did pulpit supply income cease, but his primary full time place of employment closed as well. All three recipients were in need and were most appreciative.
Thank you for helping us pay our blessings forward. We are a great team !!
We would like to express our gratitude to the Presbytery of Geneva for the $200 donation to help alleviate some of the issues caused by CO-VID 19. This money was used by Village Lienks to purchase eight $25 gift cards for the at-risk Teen Moms that our group has been working with over the past several years. In the simple act of handing the girls the $25 gift card we are able to:
– Target the girls most in need
Village Lienks, The Presbyterian Church of Geneva, Geneva, NY
– Continue a relationship of support and trust
– Check in with them to see how they are doing and how the babies and children are doing
– Empower them to make decisions about what they most desperately need
– Offer hope and lesson the stress they are feeling in a time of uncertainty
– By helping the parents we are creating a safer situation for the babies and children.
